![]() Amiga, Atari, ST, Commodore, GX4000 and ZX Spectrum developed their own version of the game in the same year. The version for Sega Genesis was released by Tengen in 1993 with additional levels, new background music and cut scenes which were missing from the arcade version. Two players take each the control of one of the snowmen, Nick and Tom, and can throw with snow at the enemies. When the enemy is completely covered in snow, they turn into a snowball and lose the game. If the enemy is only partial covered in snow, he or she will only be able to move after they shake the snow off. The players can roll every enemy who turned into a giant snowball. Once this is done, the enemy will rebound off walls and, at some point in time, probably shatter against a wall. If the snowball hits other enemies, they are eliminated from the game as well. The target of the two characters is to fully defeat the enemies. Once they manage to, lots of money, in form of large green bills, will start falling from the sky. They are worth 10.000 points for each player, which is the most a player can get as a bonus. A boss will have to be defeated after every 10 levels. They are more difficult to defeat and can take more hits than the normal enemies. If the main characters bowl an enemy over, they may drop different lanterns. The color of the lantern tells the player which power-up he or she can acquire. The effects of most of the power-ups disappears after the player loses a life. If it takes too much time, an evil pumpkin will come out and try to kill Nick and Tom. The pumpkin head is unfortunately invincible, and at some point in time will even spawn ghosts that can travel through the levels and try to kill the player character. Pony Canyon / Scitron released a limited-edition soundtrack album for this game (Out Zone, Snow Bros. Licensed to Romstar for USA distribution.Ī bootleg of this game is known as " The Winter Bobble". The marquee for this title shows a 'Snow Bros.' logo, with two snowmen, and a couple of cartoon enemies in the background - in keeping with the game's 'cute' theme. This title is JAMMA compatible (the circuit board for it is one of the smallest ever made, it is barely larger than a Nintendo Famicom cartridge). This game was released as a conversion kit only (often factory installed in a generic cabinet), so any such machine could be converted into a proper Snow Bros. It has since been released, in its entirety, to the emulation community and is a fine conversion. #Snow bros 2 music softwarewas licensed to Manchester's Ocean Software for conversion to both the Atari ST and the Commodore Amiga home computers but, again like " Liquid Kids", Ocean decided that the game wouldn't perform well at retail and the game was cancelled. * Green = Inflates the players like a balloon and lets them fly around the screen, killing any monsters they touch.Įvery 10th level features a battle with a large end-of-level boss. * Blue = Bigger snowballs (encases monsters quicker) These can be picked up and act as power-ups: When players defeat an enemy, it may drop a coloured potion bottle. These ghosts can't be killed or stunned, so the player's only hope is to avoid them while eliminating the remaining standard enemies, to move on to the next screen as soon as possible. After a short time the evil pumpkin will spawn ghosts that can travel freely around the stage as they seek out Nick and Tom. The pumpkin is invincible but can be stunned with snowballs. If players take too much time to complete a stage, an evil pumpkin head will appear and try to kill them. This sends the giant snowball flying around the screen, killing any enemies that lay in its path. The encased enemies can then be kicked in order to destroy them and this is achieved by standing next to the snowball and pressing the "kick out" button. The snowmen can throw snowballs at the enemies with the aim of encasing them completely in snow. One or two players take on the roles of snowmen Nick and Tom as they battle a variety of monsters over fifty platform-based, single screen levels. ![]()
